What A World We Live In.
A huge pile of interaction data generated on twitter every second, people talking to bots and more dead people than alive on Facebook: digitalization has an impact on society in just more than one level. Society will face a wholesale shift of the way they interact in the next years. We will see a change in how people communicate, but also how their identities will be perceived, how people mourn or how they get in touch with each other. Also, data access, tools and methods will change a lot for sociologists and social scientists. New forms of data will be available and new social phenomena will emerge due to digital transformations. On this page, I want to give you an insight into digital topics in sociology, but also a glimpse of how these upcoming social changes can be examined and researched by sociologist, finding unusual approaches.
